4ths FALL TO MELTON
The 4ths lost 1-0 last night to Melton in the Leicestershire Cup, a defeat which sees the side go into the Plate competition instead. The very young Leicester side, missing player coach Gaynor Nash through illness and captain Sophia Shaw through work commitments, was always competitive but shaded by an older and more street-wise Melton side.
Steph Mason in goal was called upon to make several good saves and Abbie MacArthur was the pick of the outfield players making several penetrating runs but then struggling to link up with well-marked forwards. The winning goal came midway through the second half from a penalty corner the shot just evading stand-in captain Jo Wyeth on the line.
Leicester fought back bringing two good saves from the Melton keeper but the youngsters ran out of steam and Melton progress to the next round. The two sides meet again in the League on December 5th when Leicester will hope to have the experienced missing players back so that tables might be turned.
