STALEMATE FOR 2NDS
Leicester 2nds took on Loughborough Students 2nds in a rearranged League match which replaced normal club training. With both sides level on 23 points in 4th and 5th places in the Midlands Premier this match was very much about local pride, especially as Students had won the reverse fixture 2-1. In a tense game neither side could add the finishing touch to good attacking moves and the sides cancelled each other out for a 0-0 scoreline leaving both sides well clear of any relegation shenanigans.
Club pride was very much at stake with the 4ths taking on the 3rds in a rearranged Leicestershire Premier match. The 4ths are battling just above the relegation zone but the 3rd's priorities are rather different as they are locked in a battle with Ashby and Loughborough Students 4ths for promotion to Midlands Conference. In an excellent advertisement for the club's youth development both sides really went for it with the 3rds taking a 1-0 lead midway through the half following a crisp penalty corner strike from Jenny Bowmer. The 4ths defence was standing firm and the 4ths ended the half with some good attacks resulting in a series of penalty corners, all dealt with well by Caitlin Jeffries.
The second half began with some strong 3rds attacks but the 4ths came back, scoring through Abbie McArthur at a well-worked penalty corner. Stung by the equaliser, the 3rds found a late winner, Sandy Yeates pass/shot bamboozling 4th's defence to creep into goal.
