At Leicester Hockey Club we are always looking at raising the profile of sport and support young people in understanding a healthier lifestyle and hopefully to have an interest in our exciting sport. We currently work very closely with Leicester Grammar School where we are based helping to develop their hockey both in the Senior and Junior Schools, we also have a positive link with New College, an academic resourse on the sporting rise, here we are really looking at getting more children involved in our sport, in particular the indoor, be that through playing themselves or with media projects.
We have also been involved in the Women In Sport and Physical Activity (WISPA) project. WISPA encourages and supports women to participate in enjoyable fun based activity programmes, which will enhance their overall health and well-being. It also supports women of all ages to lead a healthier lifestyle especially with the issues of obesity and mental health being so prevalent today.
Through the past year we have developed some positive links with a number of city primary schools through the Playing4Health program and are continually looking to further this with more work schemes, match day trips and player visits.
