ENGLAND DUO HELP SECURE PROMOTION

IMG_0465

ENGLAND Women secured promotion to the top flight of the EuroHockey Indoor Nations Championship when they beat Switzerland 3-2 in their final match in Slagelse, Denmark, on Sunday.

England had to draw or win to secure their spot in the top division in two year's time, and after being level at 1-1 at the break they achieved their aim with a one-goal victory.

Leicester duo Katie Long and Maddie Hinch took leading roles and Long made the scoresheet several times over the weekend and Hinch was voted Goalkeeper of the tournament. There was heartbreak for Hannah Smith, having been selected and made the trip, she broke her hand in the training session before the first game. All the club send our thoughts to her and wished her a speedy recovery.

PUKKAS HEAD TO WEMBLEY

Leicester Ladies have reached the final of the Maxifuel Super Sixes after a 7-3 victory over Sutton Coldfield in the semi-final at Lougborough University.

The match was level at 3-all at half-time after Leicester had taken the lead three times, but in the second half, four unanswered goals took us into the final at Wembley on January 29th against Reading - the match will be live on Sky Sports 2.

4 Goals came from stand out performance Kate Long, 2 from Lauren Turner and a penalty corner finish from Hannah Smith.

To all friends, families and supporters of the club, we'd love to see as many of you at Wembley as possible to swell the crowd past the anticipated 10,000. This is the biggest showcase the sport has on television and the  more orange we can put on display the better.
