Community Coach - coming to a school near you!

October 3, 2022

We are really pleased to announce a new role in the club that launched earlier this year. Our Community Coach will take hockey to schools in the City and County. All schools eligible for funding in Leicester City and the County will be offered free coaching sessions and the chance to take part in our very own Leicester City Hockey School Cup once our new pitch is laid and up and running.

Heidi Genijovich was successful in her application to be the Club Community Coach and this is what she says about her new role. “ I love working with different groups. Diversity is what makes England what it is today, but still hockey is only played by a selected group. My goal is to try to take the sport to a different level, where diversity and inclusion can be seen in a Hockey Pitch. Introducing hockey to schools and communities that wouldn’t normally have the chance to take part in the sport is what makes my new role exciting  and fulfilling”

Heidi originally hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina but came over the UK 4 years ago with her family. She has been part of Leicester City Hockey Club ever since. Initially she began volunteering with the club in our academy setup and then became a member of staff at St Margarets when we took over the venue in April 2019. When Heidi played hockey in Argentina, she was a member of Sociedad Hebraica Argentina and River Plate Hockey Club which plays in the top Argentinian league. She has experience of working with junior players in Argentina and the UK with Leicester.
